According to Artnews, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Miami Beach has notified its guests who had booked rooms during November and December that all reservations for those months are being cancelled. The reason for the closure is the damage sustained by the building during Hurricane Irma. In an earlier release, the hotel had announced that it would be reopening on 6 October.

The closure will affect visitors to Art Basel Miami Beach, which is due to open to VIP guests on 6 December. The Ritz-Carlton offered a list of alternative hotels, where apparently accommodation is still available, in an email to its unfortunate guests.
